A recent study from the California Institute of Technology, Caltech, shows a Swift concert at Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium in August 2023 actually caused seismic activity equivalent to an earthquake.

The dancing and jumping between concertgoers and stage artists during Swift's smash song "Shake It Off" actually caused a magnitude 0.851 earthquake.

According to the report, there were over 70,000 attendees at Swift's show at SoFi Stadium.

Tepp and her Caltech team deduced that the audience's dancing and jumping gestures at SoFi Stadium were not caused by the sound system's reverberations or melodic rhythms.

These most likely caused the unique harmonic tremors during the performance, the study's news release stated.

The seismic activity of other performances at SoFi Stadium, the home of the NFL's Los Angeles Rams, was also examined, and according to Tepp's team, there was also trembling during a show by hard rock icons Metallica.
